The ethos of this jersey is about women and what they have done for Ireland.
Throughout history, women have shown determination, strength, and resilience — not only improving their own lives, but helping create a better future for everyone. Ireland would not be what it is today without them.
This jersey celebrates the women who shaped our past and those shaping our future — from Ériu, the woman our country is named after, to Brigid, to the women who broke barriers in the 1970s, and those continuing the fight for equality today. It stands for resilience, unity, determination, and pride. This jersey is not just for me. It’s because of me.
This is the story of the first women to wear the Ireland jersey.
